So yes, in most cases, yet for me there are points in time where one has to stand up for oneself. I have been in certain circumstances where it would have been absolutely pathetic to allow certain things to transpire essentially without addressing them straightforwardly and strongly in like response to the situation at hand. I am not saying I would make a fool of myself in public or start acting in public like the individual at hand that would not happen. I would however make my position perfectly clear to this individual in private, and then walk straight out (and if the circumstance and position warranted it, quit.) What is right for me is not right for another and each individual will do what is right for them surely.
It is especially important to bring this up when you are a supervisor. Anything that makes a supervisor look less than is far more damaging to your ability to work than it is for people in lower organizational roles. Your boss needs to understand this. When you treat a supervisor like a junior employee, other people will too and they will assume he doesn't respect or value your work.
One of the cool things about Google AdSense is that it's so easy to get set up. If you have a blog or website , you can sign up for a free Google AdSense Account. From there, Google will give you a unique code that you will paste onto your website. Google takes it from there, tracking your page views, traffic, and earnings on your behalf. There is no upkeep or maintenance to get this thing going, which makes it a no-brainer if you have a website already.
If there is an HR person (and you are in the US and you feel like dealing with this), tell them that you are have been abused enough that you have come to believe that you are being harassed and are starting the process of filing a complaint about this as a hostile workplace. Name the people who are abusing you and indicate that you are documenting instances of abuse. These words (harassment, hostile workplace, documentation) will get people to take notice.
