I'm really desperate to lose weight fast, and I'll do almost anything, short of surgery and starving myself. Well said and I could not agree more! I am learning Russian language right now and planning a summer trip to Kiev and Odessa. I am going for the culture and to improve my Russian language skills as an American. I hope things improve as I want to make new friends and see the whole country and Russia eventually. Ukraine and Russian women are conservative, well educated, and intelligent women with style and class. I plan to dress nice and have a great time.
Nothing quite says "summer" like a backyard BBQ. And as long as you leave the second beer in the cooler and the processed hot dogs in their package, this hot-weather staple can actually help you slim down. That's because grilling may help make healthy foods even healthier: a study in the journal Meat Science found that grilling a pork chop could decrease its fat content by nearly a third! Plus, when you're cooking more at home, you have control over ingredients, calories, and nutrition quality. Tell the grill master to toss some onions, peppers, zucchini and other vegetables over the coals to boost your fiber intake—the little bit of char, warmth, and caramelization on the grill makes veggies all the more appetizing.
TIP: A great flavorful broth is essential to this soup. I use the new Swanson Organic Free-Range Chicken Broth as my base. Swanson 100% natural broths are made from all natural, organic vegetables and free-range chicken raised with no added hormones or antibiotics, and just make sense for this kind of healthy recipe. I love that Swanson is constantly innovating and adding new products to their line. I'm a big believer in supporting free-range, so I'm thrilled to have this choice for my recipes.
Research shows that our bodies actually use a significant amount of energy trying to warm us up when we're cold through a process called nonshivering thermogenesis (heat production). And it can actually burn a significant amount of fat. One study published in the journal Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism in January 2014 suggests that a colder environment activates brown fat, a type of active fat tissue that actually produces heat to burn regular white fat. Another study from 2014 suggests that the physical act of shivering can also alter fat cells and boost metabolism, similarly to how exercise does.
