Do you want to lose 10 or more pounds in a month? Insulin not only allows glucose in the blood to enter the cells of the body, but it also helps the body store excess glucose as fat. If your body doesn't have enough insulin, two things happen: Glucose in the bloodstream is not absorbed and instead leaves the body in the urine, and the body begins to burn more fat than normal for energy. Both of these contribute to weight loss. Once insulin therapy is initiated, the body can once again burn glucose as its preferred source of energy and store any extra calories as fat, so any lost weight is usually gained back. Avoiding weight gain with insulin therapy generally requires eating fewer calories, learning to prevent hypoglycemia by matching insulin doses to the body's needs, and getting regular exercise.

A cluster of dietary risk factors is the leading risk factor for non-optimal health, with 11.3 million attributed deaths and 241.4 million attributed disability-adjusted life years per annum around the world( 1 ). The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors (GBD) study showed that in Saudi Arabia, the average levels of consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, PUFA and seafood n-3 fatty acids were far less than optimum, and the average levels of consumption of processed meats, red meats, total fatty acids, SSB and sodium were higher than optimal( 3 ).
I am always on the hunt for a good sturdy soup. The Winter Soup cookbook is just what I need, most of the recipes were easy to prepare. My favorite is the Healthy Italian Chicken Soup, definitely different from regular Chicken Soup. My husband loved the Goulash Soup and he's asked for it twice since I downloaded the cookbook. I didn't think I would like the Turkey and Ricotta Meatball Soup but I was surprised how delicious it is. This cookbook is now one of my favorites.
