It would not be wrong to say that losing weight is less about efforts and more about dedication and determination. A self-administered questionnaire was designed by the author based on previous experiences and knowledge of local culture to find out the perceptions of students, parents or designated members of the family about their changes in expenditure on foods, life style, meals frequency, dietary habits, food consumption and preferences, during Ramadan; and their perceptions of its relation to body weight. The questionnaire was piloted on a group of students prior to its administration.
Many people think that eating less will make you lose weight, but the reality is quite complicated. In order to work properly, our metabolism relies heavily on our energy consumption. Regular consumption of nutritious foods will allow your metabolism to work faster than it would if you didn't eat often enough. Try to avoid waiting longer than four hours between eating. A large part of personal training is being able to gain awareness of the food you are eating, and tuning in to your own hunger and appetite. Consuming meals that are nutritious and balanced will help create a feeling of being satisfied earlier and have greater satiety or hunger cues so, in turn, you will be eating less food and not feel as hungry.
The dietitian says this kind of diet can induce rapid weight loss which may result in losing lean muscle. This is why I don't recommend it because every diet should either contain the essential nutrients or the person should take supplements," she added.
Altering your habits and changing your lifestyle isn't easy, but the improvements you make will last you for far longer than any fad diet or quick weight-loss fix will. If you're serious about losing in a healthy way and staying at your goal once you reach it, then focus on your lifestyle. Think of it as long-term improvement. You may not drop dozens of pounds in a week like some fad diets claim, but your body will be healthier and your lower body mass will be much easier to maintain.
